Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About the JRC NRD 545
(But Were Afraid To Ask)

As near as I can tell, USB and LSB modes behave the same.

The following measurements are USB mode, at various bandwidth settings:

USB Mode on HF:

9.99 kHz:

8.00 kHz:

6.00 kHz:

4.50 kHz:

2.70 kHz:

2.40 kHz:

1.80 kHz:

1.00 kHz:

0.50 kHz:

0.25 kHz:

All the results look fairly resonable so far. Now let's turn on sharp filtering (set user option 32 to 0 instead of 1) and see what happens:

4.50 kHz Sharp:

2.70 kHz Sharp:

1.80 kHz Sharp:

Yep, much sharper response. Probably more ringing and phase delay as well. But it could be useful in some conditions I am sure.

Now how about USB mode when tuning VHF.

2.40 kHz VHF:

Again, some higher frequency noise and not as nice of a rolloff, the same situation with AM mode.
