SignaLink USB Interface

SignaLink USB Interface
December 13, 2008 06:59AM
I just purchased a SignaLink USB Soundcard interface for use with my Macbook. I was using it with cocoaModem and it's working fine. When I try to use it with MultiMode OSX I can't get the PTT circuit to fire. Not only will the rig not key up but the SignaLink's PTT Indicator LED doesn't light so the unit isn't getting the command to transmit from the computer. I know I'm doing *something* wrong in configuring MultiMode but I just can't figure out what. And since the box works with cocoaModem I assume the problem isn't in the hardware.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Go to the MultiMode Preferences, and select the serial port and handshake line to use for PTT control.

Hi Chris

Thanks for the reply.

When I go to the Preferences screen the dropdown for PTT has only one option:

"No PTT Serial Port"

I've tried both the PTT/CW and CW/PTT settings for the DTR/RTS setting but I still can't get it to fire.

Thanks for your help.

Make sure you've installed the drivers for the interface, and that you have it plugged in when running MultiMode.

If it doesn't appear, then your Mac is not recognizing it as a valid serial port.

Dose anybody use the Signalink USB interface with a IMAC or A MAC BOOK PRO? With Multi Mode? or with Cocoa Modem?

I could use some help in setting it up

What drivers do I have to install? I have the same set up and it is not working on mine either Signalink has told their are no drivers to install

If the SignalLink provides emulated serial ports, then it has to have USB serial drivers which must be installed.

If it is just a sound interface, then it won't let you control PTT, so there won't be anything to select in MultiMode.

I know this is a really old thread, however, it needs to be said that the Signalink USB is a USB soundcard, NOT a serial port. The drivers needed for it are already in OS-X. The Signalink USB has its own VOX circuit that triggers the radio's PTT. If that isn't working, you need to make sure you have set the jumpers inside the Signalink USB correctly You do NOT turn on VOX in the radio. You also do NOT set ANY PTT in the digital mode software. The Mac or PC does NOT trigger PTT--the Signalink does when it generates audio to send to the radio.
