If you're having problems getting Sound Byte to start up on a Mac, it could be due to having old MIDI drivers that are not compatible with your system. The symptoms can include Sound Byte refusing to run, it just continues to bounce in the dock until perhaps you get a crash message.

The following page explains how to remove the offending MIDI drivers: http://jnote.org/29

This is annoying and not the expected behavior.

Just today I bought your radiation app for my iPodTouch and also ordered the GM-45 USB unit. I sent you an email with a suggestion and also left the same suggestion in the notes section of my PayPal order.

Would you consider maybe adding the known nuclear reactors to you real-time maps for reference?

If not, here is a really good interactive map I found to share with others: [www.newscientist.com]

Thank you for your time and I look forward to many years of low radiation read-outs from my new GM-45 unit.

P.S. - Looking at your online map/read-outs it seems that I will be the first user to share readings from Illinois (very near Wisconsin state line) and only about 60 miles north of the Byron Nuclear Plant.

We have our IPad connected via cable (as per instructions on Black Cat website) to our SSB to receive NOAA Wx Fax products.

The issue we are having is that the Auto Save function only works maybe 10% of the time. Sometimes the product is saved halfway through the download. Manual save function works fine. Screen clears fine after each wx products has been downloaded. Website says that tone in broadcast activates auto save. Why is it that the program will clear the screen fine but auto save will not work?

Would make sense to me that in the coding, if Auto save is selected, just before sceen resets, the screen should be saved. As for right now, manual will work but I have to spend 2 hrs in front of the radio to manually save all products in one broadcast. Help!!

I downloaded SoundByte just in the last few days. When I opened it this afternoon all the carts were empty. I wasn't sure if I had hit the limit if the trial and that is its normal behavior at that point or if I hit a glitch of some sort. If a glitch, is there a way to get my cart back. I tried to use import, but the cart file was greyed out and couldn't be selected. I am still trying to assess if it will meet my need. Most of the first days of the trial were all consumed with the search for what routing and mixing software I needed to use with SoundByte to successfully get the mixed mic and sound effect to my target application. I was just getting to where I could start using it for the purpose I had in mind, so I am hoping to get it working a little longer to assess if it will meet my needs like I think it will.

Hello,

I just updated my copy of Audiocorder. I am running it on a Macbook Pro with OS 10.6.8.

I seem to remember from the previous times that I used it (well over 1.5 years ago), that if I start a manual recording and then stop it, the recording would automatically be saved to my default folder with the automatic naming conventions. However, it seems I can only save a recording if I do the "Record to One File As..." command.

Could someone please advise me as to why these manual recordings are not saving automatically? Is it a compatiblity issue, or am I not using Audiocorder appropriately? I have read the manual and it does not seem to indicate that I need to do anything special for saving my manual recordings besides merely using the start/stop buttons.

Thanks!

"Action->Set Fade Rates" should set the fade rates for the currently active rack not all racks. If I setup 4 racks painstakingly setting the fade rates of each cart and then open up a new rack and want to preset all the carts to the same fade rate the Set fade Rates feature would be useful but just for the open (or active rack) the fact that it changes all the racks is a problem.

I wish there was an option to choose the number of racks to be displayed. If I "Full screen" a rack I can't see the bottom row and only half of the next to the last row.

A feature that would allow copying of carts would be really nice. If I want to move a cart from one rack to another I have to do it completely manually.

Make PgUp and PgDn also be Previous Rack and Next Rack. On my laptop CTRL/+ does not work at all.

It would be nice if changes made on the spreadsheet view would actually change the cart settings. Make it much easier to make "global" sorts of changes quickly.

Thanks for a great product!

Version 4.1.2 Not liking my Firebox (2 replies)

I've tried SoundByte 4.1.2 on two different computers and it appears to have more limited functionality than its predecessor with regard to Presonus Firebox. My previous version allowed me to address different outputs on a cart-by-cart basis; now, after paying for the new license and installing the new version, the program crashes anytime I try to trigger a cart assigned to any other output than "default sound output device". It just exits abruptly, without an error message. This is a huge frustration, as I was just using this software in a theater show with my Firebox a month ago, with no trouble whatsoever. Since the new license/upgrade, I'm having nothing but headache, with a quickly-looming opening date.

Help, please.

I had version 4.1.0. Evidently there was no Version 4.1.1? Then I was alerted by SoundByte there was a new version so I downloaded SoundByte 4.1.2. The SoundByte Docs PDF that comes with 4.1.2 does NOT say what improvements were made. In the past, the accompanying document always said what the current version improvements were. I assume this was an oversight. So, what's new in 4.1.2?
By the way, as an aside I've been easily copying ACARS, RTTY and SITOR with my Kenwood TH-F6 and Yaesu FT-817, despite antenna system limitations.

So - I just purchased v6.9.3 of Atomic Mac and noticed that it actually seems to be a downgrade from v5.9.5 (my previous version). In particular, unless there is a magic pop-up menu that I haven't found yet, the chart of the nuclides in v6.9.3 has only one display option (similar to the "Normal View" from v5.9.5) versus six different display options in v5.9.5 ("Atomic Mass View", "Half Life View", etc.). Also, the chart has an unconventional orientation in v6.9.3.

I'm also not that amused with the BlackCat splash screen that overlays the data for 3 - 4 seconds every time I launch the program. There appears to be no way to prevent this from popping up since the "Preferences" screen has only one option - "Check for Updates".

I was hoping for some noticeable enhancements in this new version of the code compared to my 2004 copy of v5.9.5, but so far I'm not amused. I suppose that I could request a full refund, but maybe I'll just hold onto this version and hope that BlackCat eventually brings this excellent code back up to its earlier standards; however, in the mean time, I will probably be re-installing v5.9.5 and using that instead.

Hi.

I'm so sorry to ask you again.

After Rad was activated, I had sent the image of Rad graph to my homepage (http://uofaeng.sitemix.jp/) for about 3 weeks.
GM-10 was working well until then.

But last weekend (July 16), when I happened to see the graph, suddenly the values dropped, the noise (like jeeeee.....) from GM-10 came to stop.

I thought the trouble was caused by a device driver problem ('cause I'm using a RS-232/USB conversion cable: not your company-made).
Using dummy data of Rad, the graph was drawn properly and GM-10 to PC communication errors were not emerged.

I think that GM-10 itself have a trouble somewhere: blowout of a fuse (if it's on the circuit), or short-circuit, etc.

I'm not good at electronics, so I would like to send back the GM-10 and to make it fixed.

The GM-10 was put inside a window; no water; no falling; no disassembly (so far); just put under normal conditions.

I'm sorry to bother you again, I think I'm an unlucky man.
But I don't give up and I want to resume my radiation observation.

So, please tell me how I should do next.

Thank you for your cooperation, again.

I've been using Audiocorder for years, and with very few problems, but I have one now that is really baffling me.

I run my Audiocorder's audio input through a PowerWave device, and then into a USB port.

I am using a Mac Pro Tower, about 2 years old, running 10.6.5, and I recently installed Dragon Dictate. It works great, however, you are required to plug in a USB headset microphone into a USB port. So, I had to switch my audio input in the Sound Preference in Preferences. After using Dragon for the first time, and after closing that software, my Audiocorder no longer worked. When I go to select the audio input from the drop down menu in the lower left hand corner, it still shows DV Audio in the list (which is from the Dragon USB microphone/headset), even though I have already unplugged it from the USB port.

After I select my own audio input source (a Powerwave device), and attempt to record through Audiocorder, the playback of my recordings is at about 3-4 times faster than normal speed. I have played with Mono Input Device, as well as the frequency settings, and nothing has gotten my recordings to sound normal. I even unplugged my Powerwave, and then plugged it back in, and now I have TWO Powerwaves from which to select in the audio input drop-down menu.

Clearly, once Audiocorder sees a USB input device, it never forgets it. Thus, if the USB input device screws up the audio input to Audiocorder, even when you unplug the offending device, Audiocorder remains in this faulty state. I even trashed my old copy of Audiocorder and downloaded the new version, 5.4.1. Even after doing that, the audio input selection menu still shows DV Audio, as well as both of my PowerWave choices.

My question is how I can activate "rad" software on my PC.
Another software, "quickrad" works well, but "rad" with graphing functions cannot work.
My PC environment is as follows:
1. a GM-10 with a RS232 connector
2. a RS232/USB conversion cable
3. a Windows7/64bits PC with USBs
4. COM3 is assigned as a port for a serial connection (self-assigned another COM# doesn't work.)
My final goal is to upload GM-counts to Pachube.
I'm not a computer pro, so I'm not sure whether to activate "rad" is necessary to upload the data.
But I guess, to collect the data inside my PC first seems to be required, not just to display on PC screen using the "quickrad".
If you had come across the same situation and solved it, please teach me dumbing down.
