If you're having problems getting Sound Byte to start up on a Mac, it could be due to having old MIDI drivers that are not compatible with your system. The symptoms can include Sound Byte refusing to run, it just continues to bounce in the dock until perhaps you get a crash message.

The following page explains how to remove the offending MIDI drivers: http://jnote.org/29

I am using SoundByte on a MacBook Air (most recent generation) with Mac OS X 10.7.3. When I load SoundByte, I can use it fine. But if I move to another application, I can’t get back to it. Command-Tab doesn’t work. I have to press F9 and then click on the SoundByte app window. This is annoying and not the expected behavior.

We recently upgraded our computers that play SoundByte to a machine with Windows 7. Ever since then, we've had issues where the audio will stutter, drop, or restart itself. Has anyone else had any issues with Windows 7 and playback performance? We've even tried to revert to Windows 7-32 bit to see if that would solve the issues. It did not make a difference.
If anyone has any insight or things to try, we'd be grateful!

So the first step is that you need to get the song onto your computer from iTunes. I can't help with that.
After you do that, follow these steps to get it into the Sound Byte app: http://www.blackcatsystems.com/ipad/iPad_SoundByte_FAQ.html

Thanks for the suggestions. I understand the first, but could you explain the second? You can drag a cart to a new location now.

I've been using and enjoying Soundbyte for many years now but there are two features I've been pining for:

1) The ability to alphabetize or rearrange the rack list. Right now the list is in order of creation: I have almost fifty racks at this point and it's become difficult to find a list quickly.

2) Cut & Paste carts. I'd like to rearrange my rack without having to locate the original file. If there was a way to right click copy and then paste I'd be thrilled.

humm i see .... well if you re working on a switch capability between racks any possibilities would be great cause of course each rack has a theme ... mainly, and we would like to manage this easily ... if i use the eject key all sounds are stoping and that"s not what we want ... we would like to make a sound on rack 3 stopping a sound on rack 1 when playin ...
so maybe you ll worlk on it ?

You can have multiple racks open, and play carts from any of them. There are no hotkeys to switch between racks, but that is something I'm looking into.

You can't stop a cart on one rack by playing a cart on another directly, although you can of course always use the ESC key to stop all currently playing carts.
